Switching Web Hosts

Step 1: Setting Up Your New Account

The first step is to choose one of our hosting plans that meets your requirements, and then place your online order. While placing your order choose the Transfer Existing Domain option, and then submit your order form once you’ve filled in all of the required fields. Then Click Submit to send your order and upon approval your account will be setup within 10-15 minutes!

Step 2: Pointing Your Domain To Us – DNS

Explanation of DNS: DNS stands for Domain Name Servers. Each domain name is told to point to a set of servers that house a particular Web site. You must change the domain server names that go with your domain name so that match our servers. For example, if your old Web host was badhost.com – their server names were probably NS.BADHOST.COM and NS2.BADHOST.com.

Making The Change: All you have to do is contact the domain registrar – (the company you registered your domain through) and provide them with our name server information.

Your new DNS information will be emailed to you once you establish your new account.

Once you submit your DNS modification it should take effect within 24-48 hours. You can test this by typing in your domain and seeing if it takes you to your new site on our servers. If it has been longer than 48 hours and your site does not appear please contact technical support via Live Chat, Telephone, or email at support@thehostgroup.com and one of our support technicians will be glad to provide assistance.

Step 3: Closure
